After months of frustration, our experience with Triangle Swimming Pools continues to reveal just how unprepared, disorganized, and dismissive a pool builder can be.

Permitting: The Responsibility I Didn’t Ask For
One of the biggest headaches was dealing with the building permit. Triangle Swimming Pools never added me as the property owner on the permit. I had to contact the county myself and fight to be recognized as the actual owner—delaying the project even more. As if that wasn’t enough, they submitted incorrect pool measurements to the county, so I had to go back and forth to resolve their mistakes before the county would even consider approving it.
Cracking Concrete and Shoddy Construction
Now that the pool is “finished,” the problems just keep piling up. Here’s a short list:
- No proper drainage: After every rain, water collects under the pool, probably due to a high water table. I had to install an automated system to drain the stormwater beneath the pool. This is a recipe for future headaches.
- Bowed walls (1 to 1.5 inches): Every wall of the pool is bowed – some by more than an inch. Triangle was aware of this before pouring the concrete, but decided to proceed anyway. Now, they refuse to acknowledge or fix it.
- Uneven floor and hollow spots: The pool floor is uneven in several areas, especially under the tanning ledge, where you can actually feel hollow spots.
- Countless parties involved: At this point, we’ve had to involve multiple third parties—engineers, inspectors, contractors—just to get the minimum standard of work done or to have any accountability. Every time we turn around, it seems like another new face shows up, only to disappear after a few days.
Left to Deal With the Aftermath
Triangle Swimming Pools effectively abandoned us to deal with the county and permitting process, all while providing minimal communication and transparency. The burden fell on me to keep the project moving, correct their mistakes, and make sure my investment wasn’t completely lost.
Lessons Learned
If you’re thinking of building a pool in the Triangle area, please do your homework and read reviews from real customers—not just the curated ones on the builder’s website. My experience is a warning: a slick sales pitch means nothing if the company won’t stand by their work or guide you through the process.
More updates (and probably more problems) to come.
